Review of Waterproof Stealth Suit - 8th March 2010
Finally got around to posting a review of my Olive Green Waterproof Stealth Suit designed by my sponsors Stealth Widlife...
'Heading off to Norway on a trip to photograph Golden Eagles in snowy and cold conditions, with temperatures at times down to -30 degrees, I needed something to keep me warm, dry and comfortable. My Stealth olive green suit was brilliant, the jacket and trousers were silent, warm, practical, and waterproof. The design of the jacket for me, a wildlife photographer that spends long periods of time sitting in cold, windy hides was excellent.
The double opening heavy duty zip enables me to sit comfortably without the jacket gathering up and restricting movement, whilst the poppers sealed the jacket and kept the cold out. The sleeves are elasticated around the wrists, along with Velcro straps which both did a great job of keeping the wind out, whilst two large deep pockets at the front were excellent for keeping my batteries warm and out of the cold so keeping them working. The two pockets around the chest were ideal for keeping my hands warm. I found the jackets zip and poppers were easy to use with my gloves on and its windcheater style collar helped to keep my neck warm.
As I walked around in the snow, back and forth to the hides and lying on the snow to get the low angle shots of some of Norway’s wonderful wildlife, the jacket and trousers did a fantastic job of keeping me dry and warm. With features such as the Velcro and elasticated wrists, the poppers over the zips and the windcheater style collar, they all kept out the wet and the wind.

The trousers were great. I could wear them as standard trousers or as I did in Norway over trousers with the long heavy duty zips at the bottom of each leg enabling me to put them on over my boots then zip them down, whilst a Velcro strap tightened the bottom ready for my gaiters over the top, ready to walk through the thick snow. The material was light but thick enough and totally waterproof to enable me to kneel and lie down in the snow and not feel the cold or the wet. In conclusion for the cost of this suit it was a steal, light enough to travel with, and made very well and durable. As a professional wildlife photographer it was very practical, comfortable, warm and with a number of very useful and useable features, incredibly waterproof and silent in the field, what more could I ask for?'
